Meet the Artisan | The Batonga Ladies

The Binga district is home of many talented women who well known for their basket weaving skills of the Binga Basket. The traditional hand weaving techniques have been passed down from their mothers and grandmothers.

This craft allows the Batonga Ladies to continue living in their rural areas of northern Zimbabwe, whilst working in the fields and looking after their children. The income they receive from the sale of their baskets allows the women in the Binga district to contribute towards their family households.
